Creative Acts of Kindness
Recently, I successfully submitted a proposal for Creative Waikato for a 'Creative Acts of Kindness' project. I had to make a 90 second video to include what kindness means to me. I decided to make a Steampunk-inspired mixed-media piece of work that would include words that I associate with kindness. The main focus of the work is the heart. The words outside of the heart are acts of kindness and those within the heart are how kindness makes us feel.

I videoed the whole creation form start to finish and had to cut hours of footage to just 90 seconds. I have never edited video before so needed a quick crash course from Mark. It was challenging but I got there in the end.
So. here is the finished video entitled 'Straight From The Heart' along some photos of my processes and the completed artwork.
All of the other participant's work, along with mine, is now available to view on an online gallery.

Mandy has a BA (with honors) Degree in Applied Art which she obtained from Wolverhampton University in the UK and is a prolific artisan. She creates all manner of objets d'art in her workshop including jewellery, glass and Steampunk-inspired art.
In the coming months Mandy will be running kid's craft and jewellery classes in the school holidays. Her dream is to own her own glass kiln to enable her to make glass art which she can then teach to others to do.
